The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rescheduled the hearing of the contempt case against PTI founder Imran Khan and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry for June 26, as reported by RNN News. This case involves allegations of using derogatory language against the ECP and will be heard by the Election Commission Bench, where evidence against the PTI leaders will be recorded.

The case had been on a three-month hiatus due to various reasons but is now set to proceed. Both Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry were indicted on January 3, 2024, during a hearing held in Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently detained. The indictment was formally read aloud, and the hearing was adjourned until January 16.

The origins of the case date back to August 2022, when the ECP issued notices to Imran Khan and others for allegedly using "intemperate" language against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja and the ECP. The PTI leaders had criticized the commission and CEC Raja, accusing them of being biased towards the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
