Kamala Harris wins Democratic heavyweight Pelosi's support for White House race
1. "I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November," says Pelosi
Kamala Harris has received significant support from key Democratic figures, including Nancy Pelosi, for the upcoming presidential election against Donald Trump in November. This comes after Joe Biden unexpectedly exited the 2024 race.
During a White House ceremony, Harris commended Biden for his "unmatched" achievements while avoiding any sense of triumphalism. Pelosi, the former US House speaker, expressed her confidence in Harris's leadership, stating on X (formerly Twitter), "With immense pride and limitless optimism for our country's future, I endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November."
Following Biden's endorsement of Harris, a wave of Democratic leaders, including former president Bill Clinton, have rallied behind her. However, former president Barack Obama has yet to endorse her. Harris's first public appearance since Biden's announcement took place during a ceremony for college athletes at the White House, while Biden remained in isolation due to Covid at his Delaware beach house.
