Pakistan Celebrates Eid Milad un Nabi: President and PM Call for Embracing Prophet Muhammad's Teachings
Pakistan marked the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) with nationwide celebrations on Tuesday, as streets and buildings lit up with vibrant displays, particularly in green, to honor the occasion of Eid Milad un Nabi. Observed on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal, this day holds special significance for Muslims worldwide.
Processions, milad gatherings, and prayer ceremonies were held across the country, including major events in Karachi. MA Jinnah Road, a key artery in the city, was closed for processions, with the Karachi Traffic Police issuing a detailed diversion plan to manage the flow of vehicles.
In messages to the nation, both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), emphasizing how they provide guidance for overcoming contemporary challenges.
### President Zardari's Message
President Zardari urged the nation and the Muslim world to look to the Holy Prophet (SAW) as a beacon of light in today’s difficult times. He highlighted that Allah had set the Prophet’s life as a model for humanity, providing guidance on every aspect of life.
Zardari emphasized that the Prophet (SAW) established a society where justice and dignity were accessible to all, regardless of social status or wealth. He called attention to the Prophet’s (SAW) teachings, which urged his followers to stand against oppression and support the marginalized.
"Today, as the world faces division and injustice, it is essential to spread the Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) message of love, tolerance, and human rights," said President Zardari. He reminded the nation that the Prophet (SAW) treated people of all faiths with respect and dignity, encouraging the promotion of global brotherhood and justice.
Zardari also highlighted that those who benefit others are considered the best in humanity according to the Prophet (SAW). He encouraged citizens to reflect the Prophet’s (SAW) compassion and love by serving humanity, caring for the poor, orphans, and the sick.
### Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's Message
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed the call to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which he said hold the solution to many of the challenges faced by Pakistan and the broader Muslim Ummah.
"We must set aside our differences and commit to working for the progress of our nation," said PM Shehbaz. He emphasized that the Prophet’s (SAW) life serves as a "torch of guidance," demonstrating how humanity can achieve development through love, tolerance, and justice.
The prime minister urged the nation to focus on unity, love, and brotherhood, particularly in addressing social and economic problems. "The Holy Prophet (SAW) always encouraged us to help the weak, orphans, and the needy," he added, calling for special attention to be given to those suffering from poverty and hardship.
PM Shehbaz also expressed solidarity with the oppressed people in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), condemning the ongoing human rights violations in these regions. He emphasized that it is the duty of Muslims to raise their voices against oppression and advocate for justice.
"On this auspicious day, we pray for freedom and justice for the people of Palestine and IIOJK," the prime minister said, urging the international community to take action to support the oppressed.
