Champions One-Day Cup final squads confirmed

**Faisalabad's Iqbal Stadium is set to host the prestigious Champions One-Day Cup starting September 12. The tournament will kick off with a thrilling match between the UMT Markhors (formerly Wolves) and the Panthers.**

UMT Markhors, led by captain Mohammad Rizwan and mentored by Misbah-ul-Haq, will face off against the Panthers, who will be captained by Shadab Khan and mentored by Saqlain Mushtaq. The tournament features a substantial prize pool of Rs49 million, with the champions set to receive Rs30 million and the runners-up Rs15 million.

On the opening weekend, Mohammad Haris’s Allied Bank Stallions will compete against Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Nurpur Lions on Friday, followed by a clash between Saud Shakeel’s Dolphins and Shadab Khan’s Panthers on Saturday.

All five participating teams have been training intensively in Faisalabad over the past five days in preparation for this newly introduced tournament, which showcases the top cricketing talent in the country.

This tournament is seen as a critical opportunity for players to make a strong impression ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Standout performers will have the chance to secure spots in the national team for ODIs in Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, as well as a home tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa leading up to the event.

White-ball head coach Gary Kirsten will be present in Faisalabad to oversee the 50-over competition, and red-ball coach Jason Gillespie will join him later in the tournament.

The competition follows a single-round format, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs, culminating in the final on September 29.
