Pakistan fell short by 10 runs against South Africa in the first T20I at Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday. The Green Shirts, chasing a target of 133 runs, could only manage 122/5 in their allotted overs.
Winning the toss, Pakistan’s women cricket team chose to field first on home soil. South Africa, led by Laura Wolvaardt, set a total of 132/4 in 20 overs. Tazmin Brits anchored the innings with an unbeaten 56 off 63 balls, including five boundaries. Chloe Tryon contributed 15 runs off 7 balls, including two sixes, before the innings ended.
In response, Pakistan’s innings began poorly with Gull Feroza dismissed in the first over by Marizanne Kapp, caught by Chloe Tryon. Muneeba Ali (6), Sidra Amin (4), and Sadaf Shamas (2) struggled at the crease, failing to make significant contributions.
Kapp continued her dominance, dismissing Sidra Amin in the 2.3 over. Tumi Sekhukhune removed Nida Dar, who had scored 16 off 26 balls, while Seshnie Naidu sent Sadaf Shamas packing after she was caught by Sune Luus in the 7.2 over.
Despite a valiant effort from Aliya Riaz, who scored 52 off 39 balls, and captain Fatima Sana, who contributed 37 off 24 balls, Pakistan's innings fell short, concluding at 122/5.
