Wayne Northrop, celebrated for his performances in Days of Our Lives, passed away at 77.
According to a family statement obtained by People, the Dynasty star died on Friday, November 29, at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills. This followed a six-year battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
"He took his last breath in the arms of his family," shared Northrop’s wife, actress Lynn Herring Northrop. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Motion Picture Home for their compassionate care.
"Wayne touched so many lives with his humor and wit," she added. "He was a loving husband for 43 years, the best dad to his two sons, Hank and Grady, a devoted rancher who adored his cows, and a friend to many."
Northrop gained fame portraying detective Roman Brady on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, particularly for his beloved on-screen romance with Deidre Hall’s Dr. Marlena Evans.
His other notable roles included Michael Culhane in Dynasty and Rex Stanton in Port Charles. He also made guest appearances on shows such as Cold Case, L.A. Law, and Hotel.
He is survived by his wife Lynn, 66, their sons Hank and Grady, and his stepmother Janet Northrop.
