Buckingham Palace issues update on King Charles’ important royal event
1. King Charles, Queen Camilla to return to royal duties after sad loss of royal member
King Charles and Queen Camilla are preparing to host a significant royal engagement this week.
On Monday, Buckingham Palace released a statement ahead of the arrival of Qatari royalty in the UK for a state visit.
The Palace shared the news on its official social media, providing an update and answering some key questions regarding the upcoming event.
The Palace announced, “This week, The King and Queen will host Their Highnesses The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher of Qatar for a State Visit.”
The message also engaged the public by asking about the tradition of State Visits.
One of the questions focused on the origins of the “inward State Visit,” with the Palace explaining, “Among the earliest examples of what we might now term a 'State Visit' is Henry VIII's 1520 invitation to Francois I of France to meet him near Calais. The eighteen days of feasting, tournaments, and religious observance were intended to strengthen the friendship between Henry and Francois, who had been at war in the preceding decade. Two years later, Henry VIII received Charles V in England.”
The Palace also shared that State Visits are planned based on advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Additionally, the monarch and other members of the Royal Family will greet visitors with a ceremonial welcome on Horse Guards Parade.
