The second season of "The Rings of Power" will feature a new terrifying creature: the Barrow-wights. As explained by the series' VFX supervisor, Jason Smith, these creatures are ancient reanimated heroes forced to serve evil against their will. Smith highlighted the unique challenge of bringing something fresh to the portrayal of undead creatures, promising a touch of horror in Middle-earth.
The season is set to premiere on August 29. Meanwhile, work on new films based on "The Lord of the Rings" continues, with the first expected to be released in 2026, as confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. The original trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson, starred Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan.
