Rains, gusty winds predicted in Lahore, parts of Punjab

LAHORE – Intermittent rains and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave also persists over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms are likely in Murree, Galyat, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Bahawalnagar on Friday night and the following two days. Extremely hot weather with gusty winds are likely in southern districts. Hot weather will prevail elsewhere in the province.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 44-46°C on Saturday and 43-45°C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in Lahore and Punjab’s plains during the last 24 hours. Noorpur Thal, Bahawalnagar and Bhakkar remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanpur, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur and Okara was recorded at 46°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 16 per cent.
