ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and at isolated places in Pakistan on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave also persists over upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places of Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday night and the following two days.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 41-43°C on Saturday and 38-40°C on Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in the country’s plains during the last 24 hours. However, rain-thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Jacobabad remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50°C. Maximum temperature in Dadu and Turbat was recorded at 49°C, Sibbi and Lasbella at 48°C, Khairpur, Noorpur Thal, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar and Mohenjo-Daro at 47°C, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanpur, Larkana, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur and Okara at 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 20 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 13 per cent.
