Ministers, senators slam KP CM Gandapur's use of foul language at PTI power show
1. Provincial chief executive makes fiery speech, threats during PTI Islamabad rally for gaining support for Imran Khan's release
Federal ministers and senators have sharply criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders following a recent rally in Islamabad, where PTI made strong demands for the release of its chairman, Imran Khan, and issued heated statements.
Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, remarked that only those who are "hollow inside" resort to threats, condemning PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur for his remarks. Tarar criticized Gandapur for challenging a female leader from the stage, all while failing to address rising militancy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Tarar, alongside Federal Minister Amir Muqam, accused Gandapur of channeling his frustration over the rally's failure onto Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other institutions. Tarar further urged KP's Chief Minister to take his responsibilities seriously rather than making threats.
Amir Muqam added that Gandapur's use of derogatory language was a "shameful act" that violated Pakhtoon norms of respect, especially toward women. Muqam also condemned the KP government for failing to deliver on its promises and accused Gandapur of misusing provincial resources for the rally.
KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi called for accountability for the vandalism that occurred during the rally, criticizing the KP Chief Minister for his lack of action. Kundi warned that the state's authority is being challenged in the province, especially in regions prone to terrorism, urging the chief minister to either take responsibility or risk being aligned with those supporting terrorism.
Senator Sherry Rehman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) condemned PTI for promoting a "politics of violence and chaos." She criticized Gandapur’s threats against institutions and questioned whether PTI seeks to influence the justice system through protests and rallies. Rehman stated that threats and violence have no place in politics and pointed out that PPP leaders have also been imprisoned without resorting to violent threats.
PML-N Senator Talal Chaudhry echoed similar sentiments, arguing that PTI’s actions—sit-ins, rallies, and threats—are repetitive and will not grant them any pardons. Chaudhry pledged to ensure that KP’s Chief Minister faces legal consequences for the clashes between PTI workers and the police, predicting that the chief minister's future lies in jail, not in government.
Chaudhry further criticized PTI by referencing a recent article from the Israeli publication *Times of Israel*, which he claimed showed Israeli support for Khan.
