Imran, Bushra sent on 15-day judicial remand
1. Toshakhana case
An accountability court on Monday ordered the 15-day judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in connection with a new Toshakhana reference. The hearing, which took place at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, was presided over by Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
The judge also directed that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi be presented before the court again on September 2. Their appearance on Monday followed the completion of a 10-day physical remand, which had been approved by the court on August 8.
During the hearing, the accused submitted written responses to a questionnaire from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The former prime minister and the ex-first lady were represented by their lawyers Zaheer Abbas Chaudhary and Salman Safdar, while NAB Deputy Director Mohsen Haroon and Special Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi presented the bureau’s case.
This new Toshakhana reference emerged after NAB arrested the couple just hours after a district and sessions court in Islamabad acquitted them in the iddat case, also known as the un-Islamic nikah case, which had been the final obstacle to their release from jail.
