Angelina Jolie draws eyebrow raising comparison between herself and ‘Maria'

Angelina Jolie recently drew surprising parallels between herself and her character, Maria Callas, from her upcoming biopic *Maria*. In an interview with *Hello Magazine*, the 49-year-old actress, who portrays the late opera legend, revealed that she and Maria share a "certain loneliness" tied to their deep dedication to their careers.
Jolie explained that her commitment to her work often leaves her feeling isolated. "I may be many things, but I’m a very hard worker,” she noted. “I’m imperfect, but I work very hard—and so did she.”
Reflecting on their shared identities, Jolie added that neither she nor Maria would likely see themselves as more than performers and dedicated workers with a job to do, believing both are perhaps overly self-critical.
The *Maleficent* star, who shares six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, has collaborated with director Pablo Larraín to bring the life of the iconic 20th-century soprano to the screen. *Maria* is set to premiere in limited U.S. theaters on November 27, with a UK release following on January 10, 2025.
