King Charles upholds centuries-old royal tradition amid abdication rumours
1. Royal source said about King Charles abdication: “Stepping down now would be the best decision for the monarchy”
King Charles maintained a centuries-old royal tradition amidst ongoing speculation about his potential abdication following his cancer diagnosis.
On Saturday, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the Braemar Highland Games in Aberdeenshire. The event featured traditional activities such as tug-of-war and caber tossing, alongside performances by bagpipers, drummers, and dancers.
The palace later shared photos of the royal couple from the event on social media, captioning them, “A wonderful afternoon at the Braemar Gathering!” The post added, “The event, which includes traditional Highland games like tug-of-war and caber tossing, has been held in its current form since 1832 and has been a regular fixture for Royal Family members since 1848.”
Earlier this year, it was announced that King Charles would serve as Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society, a role previously held by the late Queen for six decades.
This appearance follows recent reports by In Touch Weekly, which suggested that King Charles’s reign might be nearing its end due to health concerns. An insider indicated that “stepping down now would be the best decision for the monarchy.”
