Why Meghan Markle, Prince Harry would stay mum about US elections
1. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry want to stay a-political about US elections
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will steer clear of making political statements in the lead-up to the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to maintain a neutral stance, avoiding public endorsements or comments ahead of election day.
However, the couple emphasized the importance of voting through a message on their Archewell website, stating: "Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities. At The Archewell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement, regardless of political affiliation, is essential to building a more just and equitable world."
In the past, before her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan was outspoken about her disapproval of Donald Trump, calling him "misogynistic" and "divisive" on one occasion.
This time, however, the Duchess has refrained from expressing support for either Trump or his opponent, Kamala Harris.
Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down from their roles as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020, relocating to California with their son, Prince Archie. Since their departure, they have openly discussed their grievances with the Royal Family, including allegations of racism. The couple has since welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, into their family.
