Princess Diana ‘hated' her birthday, wrote letters all day

Princess Diana never enjoyed celebrating her own birthday, according to her former staff.
The late Princess of Wales, who spent her final years living alone in Kensington Palace, reportedly "hated" her birthday, says Paul Burrell, her former butler.
Speaking to Closer Magazine, Burrell shared: "She absolutely hated her birthday. When the day came, she'd say, 'I'm staying in, I'm not going out.' She would sit at her desk, writing thank you letters for all the gifts that flooded in."
While she disliked her own celebrations, Diana made sure to lavish attention on her two sons.
Burrell added: "On William and Harry's birthdays, they were spoiled rotten. Whatever they wanted, they got. Diana would have loved celebrating Harry's 40th and would have wanted nothing more than for the boys to reconcile."
The former Princess of Wales, who tragically died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, would be heartbroken to see the rift between her sons today.
Royal expert Angela Levin commented: "She was a mother above all else. Whether royal or not, she would have been devastated to know her two sons were at odds."
Levin continued, "She might not have been able to fix things, but Diana would have been deeply saddened to think her beloved boys were no longer speaking."
