PMD forecasts drizzle in Karachi's coastal areas today
1. Monsoon rains likely to enter eastern Sindh from tomorrow evening, says Met Office
Karachi is expected to experience some relief from the heat as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast sporadic drizzle in the coastal areas today. The PMD has also predicted that monsoon rains will enter eastern Sindh from tomorrow evening, leading to potential downpours between July 6 and 7 in regions such as Umarkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, and Jacobabad.
This weather forecast comes after a severe heat spell in Karachi, which has resulted in 49 fatalities, confirmed by the Sindh Health Department. Despite the upcoming drizzle, the city is expected to remain hot and humid for the next three days, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C. A sea breeze is blowing at around 12 to 14 kilometers per hour, and the lowest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 30.5°C.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz mentioned earlier this week that Karachi might witness rains after July 8. The PMD has also predicted vigorous monsoon activity in the upper and central parts of the country due to strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
