PTI urges Fawad not to criticise party leadership
1. Asad Qasier confirms contact with Fawad, says all leaders have been asked to keep quiet for time being
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is currently facing internal conflicts, with notable members like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and senior leader Asad Qasier reaching out to former colleague Fawad Chaudhry. They requested him to stop criticizing the party's leadership. This effort aims to address misunderstandings and maintain party unity.
Fawad Chaudhry has been openly critical of PTI's current leadership, describing them as obstacles to the release of the party's founder, Imran Khan, from jail. Despite his criticism, Chaudhry expressed a desire to rejoin PTI during an appearance on Geo News' program "Naya Pakistan."
PTI has been dealing with internal turmoil, including public criticism among its leaders. In June, it was reported that 27 PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmakers considered resigning from the National Assembly in protest against the party's leadership. Of these, 21 hinted at forming a forward bloc due to the leadership's failure to secure Imran Khan's release from jail.
Additionally, PTI's Secretary-General Omar Ayub resigned to focus on his role as National Assembly Opposition Leader, but both the core committee and parliamentary party rejected his resignation, urging him to continue in his post.
Imran Khan, speaking from Adiala Jail, denied any major differences within the party and dismissed reports of a forward bloc. However, PTI's Information Secretary Raoof Hasan stated that Fawad Chaudhry had no right to comment on the party after joining another party, and the majority opinion within PTI was against bringing back those who had left.
