UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has paid a heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the second anniversary of her passing.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Starmer wrote, “Today marks two years since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The late Queen’s unwavering dedication to the UK and Commonwealth showed us that, no matter the challenges, the value of service remains timeless.”
He continued, “Throughout her 70 glorious years on the throne, she was central to the life of this nation. Today, we honor her memory.”
Earlier, Starmer had commented on the announcement of a central London site for the Queen’s memorial, stating that the queen’s “enduring legacy of service and devotion to our country will never be forgotten.” He added, “The national memorial will be situated in St. James’s Park, at the heart of the capital, providing everyone with a place to pay tribute to the late Queen and connect with the shared history we hold dear.”
September 8 marks the two-year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death, following her record 70 years and 214 days on the throne.
