Magnitude 6.7 earthquake strikes off Philippines' Mindanao

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 struck off the eastern shore of Mindanao island in the Philippines on Saturday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
GFZ reported the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).
The US Geological Survey measured the magnitude at 6.8.
The US National Tsunami Warning Center confirmed there was no tsunami threat from the earthquake.
The Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS advised that it was not expecting damage from the offshore quake but warned of possible aftershocks.
The Philippines is situated in the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an area known for frequent volcanic activity and earthquakes.
