Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that the completion of the Information Technology Park project in Islamabad will significantly boost the country's IT exports, marking a crucial step toward achieving the $25 billion target in this sector.

Chairing a meeting to review the progress of ongoing Information Technology and digitization projects, as well as efforts to increase IT exports, the prime minister expressed satisfaction with the advancements made on the Islamabad IT project.

He instructed officials to explore ways to shorten the project’s completion timeline in consultation with Korean experts, according to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing.

The meeting was attended by Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Deputy Chairman Planning Jehanzaib Khan, PM’s Coordinators Malik Mukhtar Bharath and Rana Ahsan Afzal, along with other senior officials.

The attendees were informed that the work on the IT park is progressing rapidly, with the Korean company responsible for the project revising the completion date to February 2025, ahead of the initial June 2025 deadline.

Regular site visits and monitoring by the Capital Development Authority teams are ensuring the project's smooth execution.

The meeting also included a briefing on the development of digital smart cities, starting with a pilot project in Islamabad. This initiative will allow city residents easy access to 150 government services through the City Super Application, which will integrate various governmental and administrative services, including those from the CDA, Islamabad Police, and the health and education sectors.
