Imran Khan 'decides' to hold PTI powershow in Islamabad on Aug 22
1. "We guarantee that there will be no law and order issue," says KP CM's Adviser Barrister Saif
Barrister Saif emphasized that the party would strive to avoid any violations of the law, citing directions from PTI founder Imran Khan to approach the administration and courts in a proper manner. "Don't create more bitterness by creating hurdles," the PTI leader urged.
The Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information revealed during a press conference in Islamabad that the incarcerated party leader, Imran Khan, has decided to hold a public rally in Islamabad on August 22. Saif assured that the event would proceed without any law and order issues, adding that the party would make efforts to comply with legal requirements.
The announcement comes after months of attempts by PTI to organize a public gathering in the federal capital. Authorities have repeatedly denied the party permission due to security concerns. In June, the Islamabad High Court directed PTI and the city’s administration to resolve the issue amicably, leading to a temporary approval for the rally. However, the NOC (No Objection Certificate) was later suspended by Islamabad's Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, citing the start of Muharram, security concerns, and complaints from local residents.
In response, PTI sought contempt of court proceedings against those responsible for the suspension of the NOC. After the court dismissed their plea, the party once again requested permission from the district administration to hold a public meeting on August 13.
Barrister Saif's announcement follows a statement from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who recently declared that no one could prevent the party from staging a rally. Saif also highlighted that a large number of participants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were expected at the public gathering. He reiterated Imran Khan's directive for the party to seek legal channels, stressing that the current situation in the country required careful handling without adding to the tensions.
