Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Khawaja Asif, criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during a speech in the National Assembly. He accused PTI of seeking relief from influential figures, referencing statements by Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aun Chaudhry, who claimed he had once hidden PTI founder Imran Khan in a car trunk to take him to General (retd) Amjad Awan's house. There, Imran Khan allegedly made desperate requests for relief from former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Asif's remarks were a response to PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan's criticism of the federal government's budget, which Ayub called detrimental to the nation's interests. Ayub's address included a denouncement of the budget, which he termed as being created by an "economic hitman."

Khawaja Asif also recalled Ayub's past praise for PML-N leaders, contrasting it with his current support for Imran Khan. He mentioned that the PML-N would consider welcoming PTI if the party apologized for the violent protests on May 9, following the arrest of Imran Khan. Additionally, Asif condemned PTI for writing to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to link funding to an audit of alleged election rigging, and accused PTI of wanting the country to default after losing power.
