Yuval Noah Harari has recently shared his views on the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence and the associated risks.

The bestselling author of *Sapiens* has released a new book, *Nexus*, which explores the history of information networks and the potential dangers posed by AI.

According to a blog on Waterstones, an excerpt from Harari’s book highlights his concerns: “In *Nexus*, the primary risk I aimed to bring to readers’ attention is the exponential and unpredictable power of artificial intelligence.”

He elaborated, “AI differs fundamentally from previous technologies because it can independently make decisions and generate new ideas. Unlike Gutenberg’s printing press, which could replicate the Bible but not create new commentaries or entirely new holy texts, AI can do both. AI isn’t just a tool; it is an agent.”

Harari also emphasized the importance of global cooperation in managing AI's impact. “Humanity possesses the wisdom to handle AI, but only if we work together. Sadly, just when international cooperation is needed the most, it is deteriorating,” he said.

He added, “World leaders should recognize that there is a new super-predator in the jungle. If humans continue to conflict among ourselves—whether Americans, Russians, Germans, or Chinese—we will all become easy targets for AI.”
