Sindh decides to open office for issuing premium number plates

The Sindh Excise & Taxation department in Karachi has announced the establishment of a special office for issuing premium number plates following the success of their first auction. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Excise & Taxation Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Key highlights from the auction and subsequent plans include:
- The first phase of the auction was highly successful, earning a total revenue of Rs675.4 million from the sale of 40 premium number plates.
- The highest bid was for plate number 1, which sold for Rs100 million.
- Other notable bids included Rs53 million for plate number 5, Rs46 million for plate number 7, Rs41 million for plate number 8, and Rs40 million for plate number 9.
- The proceeds from the auction will be used to rehabilitate victims of the 2022 floods in Sindh.
- A new motor registration office will be established in the South District, which will operate in the evenings and offer home delivery of number plates.
- Minister Memon emphasized making the vehicle registration process easier and running the department in a more corporate manner.
This initiative reflects the department's efforts to modernize and streamline their services while also contributing to a noble cause.
