Benny Blanco Opens Up About Choosing Selena Gomez’s Dream Engagement Ring
Benny Blanco knew he had to get it right when picking out Selena Gomez’s engagement ring.
In their first joint interview with Interview magazine, the couple reflected on their relationship, Blanco’s proposal, and their upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, set for release on March 21.
Gomez, now proudly wearing her marquise-cut diamond, revealed she had envisioned her dream ring since her Good for You era.
“That’s the diamond I’ve always dreamed of,” she said, showing off the sparkling gem. Blanco, known for his self-deprecating humor, quipped, “I just tried not to f**k up. That’s all I did.”
His effort paid off—Gomez had hinted at different designs over time, initially envisioning “huge baguettes on the side.” However, she later changed her mind, opting for a more classic look.
Blanco found a creative way to repurpose the discarded design elements. “We now have extra baguettes that are going to be turned into earrings,” he shared.
As for the proposal itself, Blanco remained tight-lipped but teased that it was “the sickest surprise.” Keeping it under wraps, however, was a challenge.
“At the end, she was starting to get upset because she was like, ‘Why aren’t you coming home tonight?’” he admitted.
“I almost did it early. But I nailed it, I think.”
