Ryan Murphy gets honest about FX series: 'It's different'
1. Ryan Murphy says he did not like the comparison between his two series
Ryan Murphy is known for his successful lineup of FX series, but he expressed his discontent when *Grotesquerie* was labeled as part of the *American Horror Story* franchise.
In an interview with Deadline, he stated, “*Grotesquerie* has nothing in common with *American Horror Story*. It just doesn’t. It’s like comparing *Don’t Look Now* to *Halloween*; they could never fit into the same category. They are fundamentally different.”
He further mentioned that the story of Aaron Hernandez is better suited for *American Crime Story* rather than an *American Sports Story*.
“The series is less focused on the crime and more on themes like toxic masculinity and concussion injuries,” he explained. He added, “The one aspect that overlaps is my interest in tone, casting, and world-building. But when I heard it being associated with *American Horror Story*, I thought, ‘What are you talking about? No, it’s nothing like that.’”
