LAHORE – The government of Punjab is set to hire over 30,000 visiting teachers for government schools during the summer vacations to address shortage of teaching staff.

Education Minister announced that 30,000 teachers will be hired across Punjab in several phases to deal the current teacher shortage. School Education Department is currently short of over 1 lac teachers in the province.
The last major recruitment of schoolteachers occurred previous government of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. Minister now plans to hire up to 30,000 teachers during the summer holidays to ensure schools are adequately staffed for the upcoming academic year.
Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) expressed that the government should initiate permanent recruitment in the school department to address the teacher shortage. He emphasized that the 115,000 teacher deficit can only be resolved by appointing teachers on a permanent basis.
