At this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Megan Thee Stallion paid homage to Britney Spears with a memorable performance. Megan, 29, first appeared in an Olympics-themed one-shoulder bodysuit adorned with the American flag and "VMA" across her chest.

During her opening monologue, Megan joked, "Shout out to Simone Biles. Did she let me borrow this?" The rapper, who was hosting the VMAs for the first time, included a nod to her fans and critics in her tribute: "I want to give a shout out to my hotties and my 'hatties,' because I know y'all watching, too."

She added a playful twist to the VMA acronym, saying, "As you can see, I am repping team VMA, and tonight, VMA stands for the voluptuous Megan awards. Clearly, I deserve a gold medal for being a bad bitch."

Megan’s Britney Spears tribute featured an iconic snake stunt reminiscent of Britney’s 2001 VMAs performance with a live Burmese python. Dressed in a green blouse and multicolored hot pants, Megan attempted to channel Britney’s look with her own live python.

As the show resumed after a commercial break, the VMAs aired a clip of Britney’s performance of "I'm A Slave 4 U" with the python. Megan followed up with her own live snake, which started to crawl toward her crotch, causing her to panic. "Okay! Okay! Stop the music, stop the music!" she exclaimed, as she tried to distance herself from the snake. "I don't know this snake. This snake don't know me."

Eventually, the snake was removed, and Megan regained her composure, telling the audience, "I tried to hold it down for Britney," which earned her a round of applause before she introduced the next presenter, Paris Hilton. Megan had previously showcased her hosting and performance skills on Saturday Night Live in October 2022, having already made two musical guest appearances.
