Lahore DC denies PTI permission for power show tomorrow

1. The decision not to allow the rally was made to maintain law and order situation," says Lahore DC
LAHORE: The Lahore city district administration rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) request on Thursday to hold a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8, citing security concerns.
This decision came as the former ruling party announced its plans to observe February 8 (Saturday) as a "Black Day" to mark the first anniversary of what they describe as the “rigged general elections.”
A statement from the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) clarified that the rally was not allowed in order to maintain law and order. The DC further explained that several significant events were scheduled in the city on that date, including a cricket match, an international speaker conference, and a horse and cattle show. Thousands of security personnel had already been deployed for these events, the official added.
Earlier on Thursday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had instructed the deputy commissioner to make a decision by 5 p.m. regarding PTI’s request for the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan. The order came after PTI Punjab Chief Organiser Aliya Hamza filed a petition on February 3 seeking permission for the public gathering.
