Jennifer Lopez reveals why she’s drawn to ‘Unstoppable’ role

Jennifer Lopez recently shared her thoughts on her connection to her character, Judy Robles, in the movie Unstoppable.

In an interview with Variety, the Marry Me star described the bond between her and the character: “We were kindred spirits.”

She went on to explain, “We both grew up Latina in this country. We both have children and share hopes and dreams for them.”

Reflecting on what drew her to the role in Unstoppable, the Maid in Manhattan actress added, “We both had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together.”

JLo also spoke about the resilience women develop because of their circumstances, saying, “Women are strong. We have to be.”

She further emphasized, “From the minute women are born, we're always having to prove ourselves, to show we're good enough. That creates a type of strength.”

The Selena actress noted, “And then a lot of us give birth — and there’s nothing that makes you stronger than doing that.”

In another part of the interview, the Out of Sight actress revealed she was “blown away” when she received the Legend & Groundbreaker Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Speaking about the recognition, JLo expressed, “I’m humbled.”

However, she quickly added, “I still have so much more to do. I’m at the halfway mark. I feel like my best work is in front of me.”

She concluded, “My biggest projects are in front of me, and my biggest successes. Everything is in the future.”
