The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the federal government to compensate the father of Haroon Muhammad, a missing person from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 3 million PKR. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb presided over the case concerning Haroon Muhammad, who has been missing for the past 15 years.
During the hearing, Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Duggal and petitioner’s counsel Iman Mazari were present. The court ordered that the compensation be paid to Haroon Muhammad's father before the next hearing. Additionally, the IHC issued instructions to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general, through the home secretary, to ensure the compensation is provided.
Advocate Iman Mazari, representing the petitioner, reported that the applicant’s family has been receiving threats due to their pursuit of the case. In response, the court ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General to provide security to the petitioner and directed the registration of cases against security officials involved in issuing threats.
The hearing has been adjourned for two weeks, with the court emphasizing the urgency of addressing both the compensation and the security concerns of the petitioner’s family.
