The esteemed 85-year-old British actor lost his footing during a fight sequence, resulting in a tumble off the stage. However, reassuring news indicates that the actor is "doing well."
A representative for the theater provided an update on the health of the Lord Of The Rings star, assuring that he will soon resume performances.
"Thank you to our audience and the wider public for their kind messages following Ian's fall during this evening's performance of Player Kings," they conveyed to The Mirror.
"After undergoing a scan, the excellent NHS team has confirmed that he will recover swiftly and completely, and Ian is in good spirits," they elaborated.
In light of the incident, the production has opted to cancel the Tuesday, June 18th performance to allow Ian adequate rest. Ticket holders affected by the cancellation will receive notifications from their point of purchase promptly.
Appreciation was extended to doctors Rachel and Lee, who were present in the audience, as well as the venue staff for their assistance.
McKellen is anticipated to make a comeback to the theater for Wednesday's matinee performance of the play.
