The global animal welfare organization Four Paws has announced that its team of elephant experts will soon travel to Karachi to assist in relocating an African elephant named Madhubala to the Safari Park.

According to *The News*, this visit comes as preparations at the Safari Park to create a suitable environment for elephants have reached their final stages.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the organization described this move as a significant milestone in ensuring a safe and appropriate habitat for Madhubala, who will have the opportunity to reunite with her sisters, Malika and Sonia.

As the final preparations are underway, the focus is on completing the landscape of the elephant enclosure, finalizing enrichment features, and continuing the necessary training for the three elephants.

It’s important to highlight that Madhubala has been in solitary confinement at Karachi Zoo since 2023, suffering from mental strain due to her isolation. Her companion at the zoo, a 17-year-old female tusker named Noor Jehan, passed away earlier this year due to a prolonged illness exacerbated by inadequate living conditions.

Following Noor Jehan's death, the city administration announced plans to relocate Madhubala to the Safari Park to mitigate health risks associated with her confinement.

The exact date for Madhubala's relocation will be announced in the coming weeks. Four Paws expressed gratitude to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Mayor Murtaza Wahab for his cooperation.

The organization stated that together with local partners, they are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful relocation for Madhubala and her reunion with her family at the Safari Park.
