Cement prices up in Pakistan

The price of cement has seen a notable increase in Pakistan, with a rise of Rs115 per bag over the course of a month. In Sindh, including Karachi, the price of a cement bag has increased by Rs10, bringing the rate to Rs1,060. Similarly, in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the price has risen by Rs15 per bag, reaching Rs1,260.
During May 2024, Pakistan's cement sector experienced a remarkable surge in exports, recording a 72.16% increase compared to the previous year. According to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, cement exports reached 917,962 tons during this period, up from 533,215 tons in the same period last year.
Official data also indicates a growth of 7.83% in cement sales during May 2024, with overall sales reaching 4.275 million tons and domestic sales standing at 3.357 million tons.
Moreover, the total cement sales in the first 11 months of the current year amounted to 41.730 million tons, compared to 40.516 million tons during the same period last year. This data reflects a consistent upward trend in the cement sector, both in terms of exports and domestic sales, indicating positive growth and demand in the industry.
