Atif-Aoun meeting draws flak from PTI

PESHAWAR: A meeting between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Atif Khan and Aoun Chaudhry has sparked controversy within the party, drawing criticism from several members in a WhatsApp group.
The matter gained attention after a senior PTI leader shared a picture of the meeting in the group, prompting disapproval from various members, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
In response to the backlash, Atif Khan defended the meeting, rejecting claims of secrecy. "This was not a secret meeting," he clarified. "It happened in broad daylight."
Atif Khan explained that he was at the Islamabad Club for his routine walk when he unexpectedly ran into Aoun Chaudhry, and someone captured their picture. His explanation seemed to ease tensions within the group, as several PTI leaders acknowledged his stance, sources said.
Meanwhile, PTI Central Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram, speaking to Geo News, stated that both party workers and leadership viewed the meeting unfavorably. "Aoun Chaudhry testified against our leader and his wife," he said, referencing past tensions between the two figures.
