ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has decided to expel party legislators who were absent during the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

Sources reveal that Imran Khan has directed the removal of these MPs and instructed the issuance of their expulsion notifications—excluding Zain Qureshi. He has conveyed a clear message to the party leadership, emphasizing that those who went into hiding on the day of the amendment’s passage have no place in PTI, as their actions were against the party line.

According to party insiders, senators Zarqa Suhrawardy and Faisal Saleem were among those absent during the vote. Additionally, show-cause notices were issued to MNAs Aslam Ghuman, Riaz Fatyana, Zain Qureshi, Miqdad Ali Khan, and Aurangzeb Kachhi.

The 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed in October last year, prompting PTI to take disciplinary action against its National Assembly members and two senators suspected of siding with the government on the amendment.

Meanwhile, PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, who recently issued the expulsion notification for party MNA Sher Afzal Marwat, has accused Marwat of creating unrest within the party. Speaking on a private TV channel, Naqvi stated that Marwat "does not respect the dignity of others and continues to spread chaos despite warnings from the party." He added that the PTI parliamentary party would take steps to de-seat him.

Commenting on an earlier altercation between Fawad Chaudhry and Shoaib Shaheen outside Adiala Jail, Naqvi condemned Chaudhry’s actions, labeling them as immoral. He insisted that the incident involving Shaheen was unacceptable and deserving of strong condemnation.
