FAISALABAD: At least two people died and seven others suffered burn injuries after a house in Faisalabad's Shareef Pura neighborhood caught fire due to a laptop battery explosion on Wednesday, rescue officials told Geo News.
Rescue officials reported that the fire occurred while the laptop battery was charging in the house located on Satyana Road. The blaze was eventually extinguished.
Nine family members, including five children and two women, were transported to Allied Hospital following the incident, according to the rescue officials.
Hospital sources informed Geo News that two siblings, a brother and sister, succumbed to their burn injuries, while the remaining seven individuals are receiving treatment.
In response to the tragic incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her condolences to the bereaved family and extended her sympathy.
According to a statement from the provincial government, CM Maryam has ordered the provision of the best medical treatment and facilities for the injured.
Regional Police Officer Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan has directed the senior superintendent of police to launch an investigation into the incident.
