1. LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced that it will start distributing free solar panels across the province starting on Independence Day, August 14.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced a new solar panel initiative aimed at reducing electricity bills and promoting renewable energy use:
1. **Free Solar Panels for Low Usage Households**: Households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month will receive free solar panels.
2. **Subsidized Solar Panels for Moderate Usage Households**: Consumers using between 200 and 500 units per month will get solar panels at only 10% of the cost, with the remaining 90% subsidized by the Punjab government.
3. **Interest-Free Payments**: The payments for the solar panels will be interest-free and spread over five years.
4. **Distribution and Details**: The distribution of the solar panels will be managed through banks, and all details of the scheme have been finalized.
