WhatsApp shares update on video status length

WhatsApp has announced an increase in the video status length for selected beta users.
The Meta-owned messaging app is now allowing video statuses to reach a maximum duration of one minute, up from the previous 30-second limit, as reported by WABetaInfo.
This update brings WhatsApp in line with its competitors like Instagram and Messenger, which already offer the option to post 60-second video statuses or stories.
Users can now record videos directly within the app or upload existing videos from their phone’s storage, without the need to split longer videos into multiple segments.
The extended video length promises several advantages. Firstly, it enables users to share more comprehensive and naturally flowing stories, enhancing the storytelling experience.
Secondly, it ensures a consistent user experience across various social media platforms, making it easier for users to switch between apps without adapting to different video length restrictions.
The new feature is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve user engagement and satisfaction. By addressing the limitations of the previous 30-second cap, WhatsApp aims to provide a more seamless and enjoyable platform for its users.
As this feature is currently available only to beta programme users, it is expected to roll out to the wider user base in the near future, marking a significant upgrade in the app’s functionality.
