Saoirse Ronan unlocks hidden talent in upcoming movie 'Blitz'

Steve McQueen praised Saoirse Ronan for her talents beyond acting in the upcoming film *Blitz*. 

In a candid interview with *Variety*, McQueen discussed Ronan's performance in his historical war drama, stating, “There are no ifs, buts, or maybes—Saoirse is one of the greatest actors of her generation.”

He also highlighted her impressive singing abilities, expressing his surprise: “I didn’t know she could sing… when we heard her, it was like, 'Oh, thank God for that.' Not only could she sing, but she could sing like a bird.”

McQueen explained that the song “Winter Coat” was inspired by the death of his father, who left him his winter coat. “I had always wanted to create a song about the textual and physical aspects of remembering someone, and she just delivered it beautifully,” he shared. The song was co-written by McQueen and Nicholas Britell.

Ronan recorded the song at Abbey Road, specifically in Studio Three, the same studio where The Beatles recorded *Rubber Soul* and *Revolver*. McQueen described the recording session as deeply emotional, filled with hugs and tears. “It was just beautiful. I’m so happy she could do that,” he concluded.
