In Islamabad, Adviser to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah announced that a meeting to address various issues between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will be convened after Eid ul Adha. This meeting aims to resolve PPP’s concerns about CM Maryam's governance style and the lack of coordination on policy matters, despite being allies with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in both the Centre and Punjab.

During an appearance on the Geo News program 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,' Sanaullah stated that a procedure for resolving issues with PPP has been established. PPP Senator Sherry Rehman, also on the show, expressed that PPP lawmakers in Punjab are not receiving adequate funds to support work in their constituencies.

This follows remarks from Senate Chairman and PPP leader Yousuf Raza Gilani, who emphasized the need for PPP to have more influence in Punjab, noting that their issues extend beyond budgetary concerns. Gilani, who is part of the PPP delegation in talks with PML-N, mentioned that the negotiations require multiple sessions and involve matters pertaining to both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and CM Maryam. He stressed the importance of implementing written agreements made with PML-N regarding Punjab and incorporating PPP’s input on the budget.

Senator Rehman reiterated Gilani's point about the necessity of implementing the written agreements established at the formation of the government. She noted that while progress on PPP’s concerns has been slow, there remains an opportunity to resolve these issues through dialogue. She revealed that PPP had requested a briefing on budget formulation months prior.

Rana Sanaullah commented that the recent meeting with PPP was amicable, and no complaints were raised during the discussions. He also maintained that development funds are distributed equally among national and provincial lawmakers.
