No respite for Karachiites as weather to remain hot

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather for Karachi in the next 24 hours. With humidity levels at 58% and an 18-kilometre per hour sea breeze, temperatures are expected to stay between 35°C and 36°C. Despite the heat, the city is predicted to remain partly cloudy, with rain anticipated next week.
In the last 24 hours, Karachi experienced a minimum temperature of 31°C, marking the first night of July as the hottest since 2021. The PMD forecasts normal temperatures for July to be around 27.9°C.
### Safety Precautions
Given the rising temperatures, health experts advise:
- Consuming homemade food and drinks to avoid gastrointestinal issues.
- Boiling water before drinking.
- Using ORS and water to prevent salt deficiency.
- Avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities, especially from 11am to 3pm.
- Wearing light-coloured, loose clothing and covering the head when going outside.
