John Capodice, the seasoned character actor known for his roles in General Hospital and Ace Ventura, has passed away at the age of 83.

The actor's death was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, following a notice on the Pizzi Funeral Home website in New Jersey, which stated he passed on Monday, December 30.

Described as a "devoted husband, father, and grandfather," Capodice will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, according to the funeral home’s tribute.

Capodice’s acting career spanned across stage, TV, and film. He appeared in General Hospital as Carmine Cerullo in six episodes between 1994 and 1996. In the 1994 film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, he showcased his talent as a police officer who dismisses Jim Carrey's pet detective.

His impressive filmography also includes notable titles such as Honeymoon in Vegas, Independence Day, Speed, The Doors, and Wall Street.

Throughout his career, Capodice made memorable guest appearances on numerous TV shows, including Another World, As the World Turns, CSI, Diagnosis Murder, Ellen, Knots Landing, Law & Order, Kate & Allie, Moonlighting, Mad About You, Murphy Brown, Six Feet Under, and many others.

Capodice's television debut was as Lloyd Lord on Ryan’s Hope, where he appeared in six episodes.

He is survived by his wife, daughters, and four grandchildren.
