The Lahore police have taken significant action against electricity theft this year, registering 15,513 cases and apprehending 14,938 suspects in operations targeting electricity thieves. According to a spokesperson, the breakdown of arrests includes 2,087 suspects in Iqbal Town, 2,523 in Sadar, 4,437 in Cantonment, 2,398 in Model Town, 2,650 in City, and 843 in Civil Lines. The Chief Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) stated that a robust crackdown on electricity theft is ongoing in the provincial capital, with Lahore police extending full support to relevant departments to curb this illegal activity. Instructions have been issued to expedite the processing of challans in electricity theft cases in consultation with prosecutors, ensuring timely submission to courts and diligent follow-up for case completion. The CCPO urged citizens to promptly report instances of electricity theft to the police and relevant authorities.
Furthermore, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized that the Punjab Police functions as a family, prioritizing the resolution of issues faced by its members and their families. During a meeting with police employees and their families at the Central Police Office, he personally addressed their concerns, issuing orders for relief as necessary. The IG Punjab stressed the importance of close communication between supervisory officers and their subordinates to ensure all applications and concerns are addressed promptly. As part of this effort, the DIG Elite was directed to provide relief to Asmat Shehzadi, an assistant, upon her request.
